Film “Malá Hanoj” on DVD

Film “Malá Hanoj” on DVD

An impressive long-term documentary “Malá Hanoi” (Little Hanoi) by a young director Martina Saková, subtitled Love, hard work, and karaoke, co-produced by HBO Europe, Projector 23, and FilmFrame, focuses on the Vietnamese community in the post-totalitarian Czech Republic. The protagonists of the chronicle are two inseparable girlfriends who initially worked at the marketplace in Dubí near Teplice, on the infamous E55 road. In the opening episode – filmed in the winter of 2005 – they sell cheap goods to German tourists. The following chapters of the chronologically compiled testimony look at how they cope with the economic crisis and their own fates. The energetic girls have to face a drop in sales due to the opening of a new highway to Dresden. During more than six years, we are following the steps that these two best friends take to build a new home and perspective in Europe for themselves. The film premiered in April 2013 in Teplice and it is not available for free download. The film contains Vietnamese and English subtitles.

Price of the DVD: 250 CZK (inc. VAT).
